Overview

Organic shaped bowl by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand Sweden.
Made ca. 1940s / 50s.

The bowl has a lovely brown haresfur glaze with speckles.
Its amorph shape is beautifully contrasted by a lattice pattern.

On verso marked with the Rörstrand hallmark, Sweden and G.N. (for Gunnar Nylund).

Gunnar Nylund (1904-97) was a famous Finnish-Swedish artist working with ceramic and glass.
He worked at Bing & Grøndahl in a short period from 1926-28 just before he established Saxbo together with Nathalie Krebs 1928-31. In 1931 he came to Rörstrand in Sweden and became shortly after their artistic leader. He stayed there until 1955 and also made several freelance works. From 1955 he was artistic leader at Strömbergshyttans Glasbruk.
