Axel Sørensen for Ibsens Enke Denmark Vase Danit glaze 1930s Danish Ceramic

Rare to find vase from the Danish pottery P. Ibsens Enke, which was situated on the island Bornholm.

The fantastic glaze is called DANIT and is by ceramist Axel Sørensen (1891-1967), probably from the 1930s.

The glaze and mixture of turquoise and red looks very different from different angles, lots of mixture on one part and lots of turquoise on another. Fascinating!

The Ibsens Enke hallmark isn´t visible or only very barely visible on verso - it might be hidden behind a layer of glaze.

A great item for your ceramic collection or a good piece to start with!

One very tiny chip at base - see last image.
Otherwise no cracks, crazing or repairs.
very well taken care of over the last about 80 years (imagine!)

About Ibsens Enke & Axel Sørensen:
The pottery P Ibsens Enke Kgl. Hof Terracottafabrik (Royal Court Terracotta Manufacturer) existed from 1843-1955. Axel Sørensen made a lot of pieces for the pottery, several with Danit glaze. The glaze got its name at a name competion at an exhibition in "Forum" in Copenhagen in 1933.
