Huge 21.7" Sculptural Beige Sun Wall Sconce by Brangstrup, Danish Ceramic, 1970s
OverviewPRICE UPON REQUEST
Huge mid-century Danish ceramic wall sconce from Brangstrup Stentøj. Made ca. 1970s.
The wall sconce is bowl shaped and has incised stripes that illude sun rays. The light diffuses through the irregular holes in the bowl in center. It is an eye-catcher and at the same time it spreads a cozy atmosphere.
The glaze is beige with purple blue.
It's very much in the style of Sejer Keramik and actually there is a connection between Sejer and Brangstrup. Brangstrup Stentøj which was owned by ceramist Hans Nielsen Buch (1937 to 2009) took over Sejer´s ceramic workshop in 1978 and continued Brangstrup on their address in Nørre Aaby on the Danish island Funen. Eventually some ceramists worked at both workshops.
The wall sconce is marked on back: Brangstrup Stentøj DK.
Diameter 55 cm, height 18 cm
The lamp remains in very good vintage condition with full function. Small chip on back. No cracks or repairs.
